University of East London (UEL) is proud to change lives through education. Our goal is to advance industry 5.0 careers-first education and provide a clear path to the jobs and opportunities of the future. We’re committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and creating a balanced, inclusive, and green future.
About The School / Service: The Strategic Development & Delivery team works in partnership with stakeholders across the institution, combining our specialist expertise, sector knowledge and institutional awareness to support the delivery of our vision to 2028 and beyond. This new Directorate for UEL comprises four main portfolios: Insights & Decision Support, Strategy & Performance, Portfolio & Benefits, and Change & Improvement.
About The Job: As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll be joining UEL at a defining moment as we deliver a portfolio of ambitious, high-impact transformation programmes. You will head up the Business Analysis function — shaping best practice, developing capability, and ensuring high-quality analysis across all major programmes and projects. You’ll personally lead complex and strategically significant analysis work, guiding senior stakeholders through discovery, design, and benefits definition to ensure our change initiatives deliver real institutional value.
Your role will be pivotal in strengthening UEL’s transformation maturity, building trusted partnerships across the University, and ensuring our projects are grounded in evidence, insight, and clearly articulated business need.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Lead, develop, and manage the Business Analysis team, providing direction, coaching, and support to enable high performance and continuous improvement.
- Oversee resource allocation, ensuring the right BA expertise is deployed across programmes and projects.
- Define and embed BA standards, frameworks, and methodologies, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with UEL’s wider change and delivery practices.
- Personally deliver high-level analysis on complex and strategic initiatives, leading activities such as requirements gathering, process design, options appraisal, and business case development.
- Facilitate workshops and engagement sessions with senior stakeholders, identifying needs, challenges, and opportunities for transformation.
- Analyse and model business processes, identifying opportunities for optimisation, automation, or significant redesign.
- Ensure clear traceability of requirements through to delivery and benefits realisation, safeguarding alignment and value throughout the change lifecycle.
- Represent the Business Analysis function within governance boards, senior forums, and programme structures.
- Provide assurance and quality oversight of analysis deliverables, business cases, benefits maps, and project documentation.
- Promote a culture of knowledge sharing, developing tools, templates, and BA best practice resources.
About You: You are a highly experienced Senior or Lead Business Analyst — or an established BA Manager — with a passion for delivering high-quality analysis that underpins strategic decision-making and successful change. You bring a proven track record of delivering analysis for complex, cross-functional programmes and are confident operating at senior levels across a large organisation. You combine analytical rigour with strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and excellent communication. You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments, balancing multiple priorities with clarity and focus. You’re adept at navigating ambiguity, uncovering real business needs, facilitating meaningful conversations, and translating insights into actionable recommendations. You’re a collaborative, solutions-focused leader who enjoys developing teams, establishing best practice, and strengthening organisational capability.
Experience in Higher Education or other complex institutional environments is beneficial but not essential — what matters most is your ability to influence, lead, and deliver analysis that drives meaningful and lasting impact.
Benefits Package: At UEL, we believe that a great role is about more than just a salary. It’s about the complete package, including our outstanding work environment and inclusive culture. We offer a genuinely competitive salary, dependent on experience (DOE), and a range of excellent benefits.
How To Apply: Please apply by submitting your CV and a supporting statement (maximum of 2 sides of A4) explaining why you’re interested and clearly demonstrating how your skills and experience are relevant for this role, alongside your online application.
