About External Relations Directorate

We have built an External Relations Directorate that has brought together an integrated Communications & Engagement and Student Recruitment & Marketing service. The directorate is made up of several teams including Communications & Engagement, Marketing, Recruitment and Conversion, Outreach and Access, Change, and Transformation (Design and Digital), Events and Advancement, and the International Office. We are looking for team members who will be part of the embedding transformation and innovative practice and enjoy working in an agile environment as we try and work towards a culture of the ‘continuous new’. This is an exciting opportunity as we prioritise building our global and UK profiles with key elements from Vision 2028.

About the Role

As a School Marketing Executive, you will play a vital role in the operational delivery of strategic marketing and recruitment plans for specific academic subject areas. Working within the External Relations Directorate, you will be responsible for executing integrated, multi-channel marketing activities that drive engagement and support recruitment goals. You will act as a key liaison between the Directorate and Academic Schools, leading on a variety of marketing initiatives and providing detailed reports on performance and return on investment (ROI) to keep stakeholders informed.

  • Operational Execution: Deliver multi‑channel marketing and recruitment activities tailored to allocated subject areas to ensure synergy across all University channels.
  • Stakeholder Support: Support the School ERD Account Manager in building and managing relationships with key academic stakeholders, including Deans, Heads of Department, and Course Leaders.
  • Content & Campaigns: Help deliver subject‑specific content initiatives and marketing campaigns that align with broader institutional priorities.
  • Performance Reporting: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing activities, ensuring that academic Schools are updated on progress and outcomes.
  • Event Participation: Support the delivery of major recruitment events, including open days and offer holder days, both on and off‑campus.

About You

You are a results-driven marketing professional with a high level of attention to detail and experience in executing multi-channel campaigns. You possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt information based on feedback and present it clearly to various audiences. You are a proactive problem-solver who can use your initiative and creativity to resolve challenges in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate is highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities to meet tight deadlines. While experience in Higher Education recruitment and knowledge of admissions cycles is a significant advantage, we also value experience in using enterprise marketing software such as Google Analytics. You must be committed to equality and diversity and be willing to work non-standard hours when required for recruitment events.
