We are seeking an effective and entrepreneurial-minded Student Enterprise Advisor to play a pivotal role in supporting aspiring founders and freelancers at the University of East London. The role sits at the heart of how UEL supports students, taking them from the first idea through to incorporation and early-stage business development.
About the role
The post holder will lead the delivery of BACK:ED, UEL’s flagship start-up funding and support programme, while managing a caseload of student entrepreneurs through one-to-one coaching, curriculum-embedded enterprise sessions and a weekly programme of workshops and activities. Working closely with aligned academic schools, the advisor will help integrate enterprise education into students’ learning journeys, focusing on freelancing, consultancy, and early-stage venture creation. The role combines programme leadership, student-facing delivery, curriculum collaboration and external partnership management. The advisor will engage regularly with incubators, investors, alumni entrepreneurs, and the broader start-up ecosystem to connect students to the networks and opportunities that matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of the BACK:ED programme and oversee student progress.
- Provide one-to-one coaching and deliver curriculum-embedded enterprise sessions.
- Organise and run workshops, activities and weekly programme events.
- Collaborate with academic schools to embed enterprise education into existing courses.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners (incubators, investors, alumni, start-up community).
- Collect and analyse data, produce reports and evaluate programme impact.
Qualifications
- Passion for entrepreneurship and a proven track record of supporting early-stage founders or freelancers.
- Experience delivering engaging workshops and coaching students at various stages of their entrepreneurial journey.
- Strong programme leadership and partnership-management skills.
- Ability to work within a student-focused environment and collaborate with academic staff.
- Experience with data collection, reporting and evaluation of educational programmes.
