The Information Assurance team leads UEL's approach to information rights, privacy and information governance, helping the University use information responsibly, meet its legal obligations and protect the trust of students, staff and partners. Sitting within the Office for Compliance, Governance and Legal Services, the team provides practical advice, assurance and leadership on issues that affect how information is accessed, shared, retained and protected across UEL. The team is at the centre of UEL's vision to build strong, high-trust information across its operations. As a small team, we work collaboratively and value practical problem-solving, shared learning and constructive challenge. The team's culture is supportive and open to new ideas, with space to contribute to developing approaches that improve how information is managed across the University.
- The role will support the Deputy Head of Information Assurance in the development and operational delivery of UEL's Information Asset Register, creating a clearer view of key information assets, ownership, risks and required actions with quarterly reports to owners
- The postholder will work with directors, team leaders, schools and services to secure continued buy-in for information governance initiatives and support their adoption across the University
- The role will involve facilitating structured information asset mapping and developing practical file plans for key business areas.
- The postholder will coordinate project activity, maintain delivery plans, track milestones and produce reporting for governance and assurance purposes
- A key part of the role will be producing clear guidance, briefings, workshops and communications that help colleagues understand the changes and embed good information practice into everyday work

The postholder will also act as a conduit for information sharing and help build communities of practice that support the long-term adoption of information governance across UEL.
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong experience in information governance, records management or information management within a complex organisation with the ability to lead project delivery with minimal managerial intervention. You will have demonstrable experience of scoping, developing and delivering information governance programmes, including work to identify information assets, clarify ownership, manage risks and embed practical governance actions into everyday business activity. You will be confident working across functions, engaging senior stakeholders and supporting colleagues with competing priorities to adopt good information management practice. Strong project delivery, change management and communication skills will be essential to help deliver lasting improvements in how information is managed, used and protected across UEL.
