Salary on appointment will be £58,225 per annum (pro rata), with an annual increment up to £67,468 per annum (pro rata). We are seeking to appoint a motivated and highly skilled individual to lead our excellent consultation skills teaching team. This part‑time (0.6 FTE) post is available immediately on a fixed‑term basis for up to 12 months to cover the maternity leave of the substantive postholder. Currently, the consultation skills theme spans the five‑year medical undergraduate curriculum (MBBS) and significantly contributes to Norwich Medical School students' preparedness for practice, and the delivery of patient centered care.

You will also contribute to consultation skills development and delivery in our proposed new Graduate Entry Medicine programme as well as future course developments which aligns with the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan. You will lead the teaching of the consultation skills curriculum for medical students ensuring that clinical communication training remains relevant and integrated within the MBBS programme as well as future course and curriculum developments within primary medical qualification education. As theme lead, you will professionally manage an established team of consultation skills lecturers who co‑ordinate and deliver specific aspects of communication skills teaching across the academic year.

In addition, you will manage the ongoing recruitment and training of associate tutors involved in the delivery of the theme ensuring quality assurance. You'll work with the assessment team to ensure fair and equitable assessments in relation to consultation skills to include taking part in assessments marking. You will be expected to possess a degree level health professional qualification or a degree level qualification in Psychology/Health Psychology/Social Science, with demonstrable experience of consultation skills teaching using experiential teaching methods. Strong interpersonal and group working skills are essential.
