The University of East Anglia is seeking to appoint a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) , an exciting opportunity to help shape and lead the Cyber Security, Risk and Governance vision, covering all aspects of the enterprise and its technology for the benefit of the University.

Reporting directly into the Chief Information Officer, the CISO, will operate at a strategic level, providing support and advice to the Chief Information Officer, the University Executive Team and Senior Leadership Team and across the University.

Deputising for the Chief Information Officer on all aspects of Cyber Security, the CISO will be accountable for Divisional representation at university committees and working groups. As part of the ITCS leadership team, the they will ensure the continued development of a high performing team to build capability and capacity in the areas of Cyber Security and Risk Management, project delivery, strategic planning, strategic change and business improvement.

The CISO will:

  • Review and understand the strategic objectives of the university, the technology architecture of the current IT estate, and from there develop and maintain a view of a target security architecture for services.
  • Work with key university stakeholders to develop, review and refine roadmaps towards that target encompassing the technology, assets, people, processes, strategies and other influencing factors to create and maintain a coherent overall vision.
  • Lead on specific project deliveries during various stages of the life cycle, or during medium- to long-term portfolio planning, shaping and introducing technical leadership to specific endeavours where required.

The CISO will have a broad range of technical experience with significant experience in Cyber Security and Enterprise Architecture; it will suit a technical ‘generalist’ able to work across all technologies equally rather than someone from a very specific technology background or skill set. The role holder will be adept at getting up to speed on new technologies with minimal support, and at building close and effective relationships with technology experts.

This full-time post is on an indefinite basis.
