We are recruiting for an exceptional individual to join us as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant within our Kobayashi Group, to study epigenetic reprogramming in early mammalian embryos. This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 24 months, with the possibility of extension. Our group investigates the molecular mechanisms by which transcription factors drive cell-stage-specific gene regulatory networks during mammalian development. Using mice as a model system, we combine low-input genomic assays (CUT&Tag/Run, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq) with knockdown and knockout strategies to uncover how transcription factors regulate the epigenome and control cell fate decisions in the earliest stages of development.

The Kobayashi Lab takes a multidisciplinary approach to address this question using state-of-the-art methods, including low-input genomics, proteomics, biochemistry, and structural biology. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop a broad technical expertise to achieve their career goals. The lab offers a collaborative and supportive environment and provides access to state-of-the-art life science facilities, including MS-proteomics and cryo-EM.

Your priorities will include:

  • Conducting research investigating the mechanisms of epigenetic reprogramming using mouse embryos
  • Designing and performing genomic assays and bioinformatic analysis
  • Leading and contributing to reports, scientific papers, and presentations arising from this work
  • Collaborating with other research groups within the Faculty and with external collaborators
  • Working with lab members and providing mentorship to summer and honours students.

Who we're looking for:

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (including those expecting to complete their degree soon)
  • Background in chromatin biology and genomics
  • Evidence of at least one first-author research article or preprint
  • Practical experience in
