We are recruiting a technician with expertise in knitted and stitched textiles to support a specialist workshop.

This post will offer expertise in knitted and stitched textiles to students and researchers working in this specialism.

The postholder will need to deliver extensive training sessions across cohorts of students, as well as ensuring that equipment is maintained and material stocks are replenished.

Working within the wider technical services team, the postholder will enable and support collaborative and innovative working to support and develop skilled technical processes.

Your priorities will include

  • Overseeing daily activities in the knitted and stitched textiles workshop areas.
  • Support students to learn skills, working with groups and individuals.
  • Replenishing materials stocks and managing provision for students.
  • Maintaining knitting and embroidery machines.

Who we're looking for

  • Specific expertise and experience working with knitted and stitched textiles processes.
  • An understanding of the development of art and design work and the evolution of ideas.
  • Experience working with students.
  • Ability to be self-directed and motivated.
