Candidate Profile

The successful candidate should have a strong track record in molecular and cellular biology research, evidenced by at least one peer‑reviewed first‑author publication or equivalent research achievement. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills, and will be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment. They should demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, and a commitment to scientific excellence. This position is offered on a fixed‑term basis for 2 years, with the possibility of extension subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

Your priorities will include:

  • Conduct research to uncover the molecular mechanisms regulating ER‑phagy and ER homeostasis.
  • Design, perform, and analyse experiments using state‑of‑the‑art molecular and cell biology approaches.
  • Contribute to the development of research projects, manuscripts, and grant applications.
  • Present research findings at laboratory meetings, national and international conferences.
  • Collaborate effectively with researchers within the MRC PPU and external academic partners.

Who we're looking for:

  • PhD in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
  • Strong track record of research achievement, evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications.
  • Experience in molecular and cellular biology, with experience in autophagy‑related research desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
