We are offering a 12‑month placement for students starting Summer 2026. You will be part of the Microchip Human Machine Interface Division (HMID), which is responsible for developing multitouch capacitive sensing devices, known as maXTouch®. Based in Whiteley, UK, the Business Unit is a centre of excellence for capacitive touch sensing. You will work in a small, highly skilled team as part of a wider organization within the Whiteley office and worldwide. This position will give you experience working in an industrial environment, allow you to learn about the full product development lifecycle, and deepen your understanding of our industry and its technologies. You will report to an appointed mentor engineer and be part of the R&D, Firmware or Applications Groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and testing of microchip products
  • Validation testing for new products
  • Develop software to enhance the firmware simulator tool
  • Update firmware to increase compliance with industry coding standards
  • Develop software for unit test and/or integration test harnesses
  • Support automated test strategies for firmware qualification
  • Implement or update custom test equipment
  • Scripting execution of automated test sequences and recording of test results
