This is an exciting opportunity to take a key role in the creation of this new academic area. We are seeking dynamic and creative individuals to contribute to this development, balancing excellence in teaching, employer collaboration and research innovation.

You will contribute to the development of a vibrant academic community by delivering high‑quality learning. A strong knowledge of Computer Science is essential, and you will have (or be committed to obtaining) a relevant HE teaching qualification and may hold a PhD in a related subject. The ability to inspire and engage students from diverse backgrounds is crucial, alongside a commitment to raising aspirations and educational opportunities.

We seek motivated self‑starters with a track record of delivering high‑quality academic provision in response to employer demand. You will help shape and develop the University's STEM portfolio, ensuring our courses are evidence‑informed, industry‑relevant and innovative, while contributing to widening participation and delivering an excellent student experience.

Your initial focus will be on developing the academic offering, including delivering on our BSc (Hons) Computer Science from our Lancaster campus and from 2027 our new Barrow‑in‑Furness campus, as well as engaging with employers to shape undergraduate, postgraduate, apprenticeship and CPD programmes.

You will be supported to engage in subject‑specific, professional and pedagogy research to enhance teaching and expand knowledge. Opportunities will also be available to engage in external activities, including academic enterprise initiatives.

A strong knowledge of Computer Science is essential. You will have (or be committed to obtaining) a relevant HE teaching qualification and may hold a PhD in a related subject. Experience in developing curriculum, engaging faculty and students, and delivering industry‑relevant teaching is required. Experience in widening participation initiatives and a commitment to student experience excellence are desirable.

This role requires satisfactory clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) at an enhanced level. It is desirable that the successful candidate will achieve Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance due to working with a range of external partners. In addition, this role requires a higher level of security vetting, and applicants will typically need to have 5 to 10 years of continuous residency in the UK, depending on the level of vetting required, to allow for appropriate background checks to be carried out.

You will be campus‑based, with some hybrid working opportunities dictated by business needs.
