We are the University of Cumbria, for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart. Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships, to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

In this role, you will be part of a team of professionals who work across a number of campuses to manage, co-ordinate and deliver interventions and events, both on and off campus, with learners from schools, colleges, other education providers and from within the community to increase the number of leads and applications to the University, contributing to the ‘Towards 2030’ strategy and Access and Participation Plan targets. You will be organised, pro-active and driven with a proven ability to work in a high energy, team focused environment with targets to meet. Previous experience of delivering student recruitment activities, marketing or educational guidance would be an advantage and is preferred.

Across the academic year, you will be involved in a wide range of engaging and varied activity, including:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with schools and colleges to increase engagement and participation.
  • Designing and delivering professional presentations and interactive workshops, using creative approaches to share Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG), key messages and University USPs.
  • Planning, managing, delivering and evaluating outreach-led campus events, such as Creative Careers Taster Days, Breaking the Mould (Young Males project) and The Cumbrian Cut creative media arts project.
  • Working collaboratively with academic colleges to develop a menu of academic-led outreach activity, including the development and delivery of course information sessions, subject tasters and masterclasses within target schools and colleges.
  • Representing the University at local and national UCAS fairs, UK Uni Search events, school and college fairs, and community careers events.
  • Working with external partners to co-host on-campus outreach events and develop collaborative projects, including through local Uni Connect partnerships.
  • Contributing content to Outreach Connect, our monthly e-newsletter, and supporting the development of our digital communications.
  • Supporting the recruitment, selection, training and development of Student Ambassadors through the University-wide Student Ambassador Scheme.
  • Assisting with the delivery of Open Days across all campuses and supporting inbound enquiries and outbound conversion activity, particularly during Clearing and results periods.

Our work is regional and national, therefore significant travel will be expected of the post holder and there is a requirement to be flexible with working patterns, due to overnight trips and the requirement to work between our campuses at events and in various Schools and Colleges. This role requires satisfactory clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) at an enhanced level.

We offer a comprehensive set of staff benefits which includes a competitive salary, 35 hour full-time working week, 33 days holiday plus bank holidays, hybrid working in line with business need, and an excellent pension scheme with 8% employer contribution.

We encourage applications from the broadest range of society, including all under-represented groups with particular emphasis on Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in our University and in comparison to the sector.
