The University of Chichester is looking for a talented, passionate and visionary individual to join its rapidly growing health care education team, based at the Chichester campus. This is an exciting time for health care education in the University, with anticipated expansion in student numbers, significant investment in resources and a growing reputation for innovation and excellence.

The university is looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Practice Learning with a focus on Nursing to continue to shape this vision. The post will lead the development, delivery and quality assurance of neighbourhood‑based, creative health and simulated practice learning experiences for nursing students. The role ensures all learning environments meet NMC (2018) Future Nurse Standards and support the development of a future‑ready nursing workforce. This will require experience of building sustainable partnerships with community, acute and neighbourhood organisations alongside maintaining our current strong partnerships.

The role will support the Placement Learning Unit within the School of Nursing and Allied Health. This role supports the development of a future nursing workforce equipped to work confidently across systems, understand neighbourhood health needs, and integrate creative, preventive and community‑based approaches into practice. The post holder will be the main contact for supporting student learning in practice and contribute to associated relevant teaching, quality assurance compliance, partnership working, research and income generation.

At Senior Lecturer level, the post holder will be expected to engage in the planning, design and leadership of teaching and research activity, and to be making wider contributions with partners and activity associated with the School and University.

The appointed postholder will be enthusiastic and driven in enhancing student experience through the quality of the practice learning environment. We welcome applicants who are Registered Nurses with the Nursing Midwifery Council with no exceptions on their registration. The postholder will have knowledge, experience and skills to enable contemporary contribution to our current pre‑registration programmes and future programmes as relevant to expertise. They will have demonstrable expertise, experience and understanding of principles of learning and teaching in higher education.

You must have significant experience in supervising and assessing nursing students in practice, partnership and strategic working and be able to engage in contemporary computer systems which support learning. Your teaching will be informed by a combination of practical experience and/or research to support high quality learning and teaching, experience of using Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs), and the use of technologies to enhance the learning, assessment of and feedback to our students.

You will work within the team to strengthen the distinctiveness of the University’s student experience as high-quality, personalised, accessible and aspirational. You’ll need to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and positively within a small academic team, excellent teaching methods with the ability to develop a variety of approaches to learning and teaching that is student-centred, inclusive and flexible.

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion at every level because we believe a diverse workforce benefits us all. For full details of the post, please visit our website above.
