About this role:

We are currently seeking a versatile individual with recent caretaking/campus services experience, or similar practical work to join the team in the role of Facilities Assistant. You will be required to work across both Chichester and Bognor Regis campuses and any other University building.

This active and “hands on” role is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a range of Estate and Facilities Management activities including locking and unlocking buildings, room set ups and basic maintenance in halls of residence and on site working, ensuring an appropriate, safe and secure environment for students, staff and all visitors. Ideally, applicants will have the ability to undertake basic maintenance tasks, such as replacing locks, door handles and minor woodwork repairs.

The post holder will work on a rota basis, covering a 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday with shift expectations as follows:

  • Chichester Campus Monday to Thursday 07.00 – 15.30 (Friday 8.30 - 16.30)
  • Bognor Regis Campus Monday to Thursday 9.30 – 18.00 (Friday 10.00 – 18.00)

About you:

You will have basic knowledge of reactive maintenance/general D.I.Y. and be willing to undertake training in first aid. You will be customer focused with excellent customer service skills and have the ability to discuss and resolve issues with students, staff and members of the public etc.

You will have the ability to coordinate repairs using the helpdesk computer system; print and action various jobs as required. You will be able to work successfully and effectively as part of a team; assisting others including; undertaking routine testing and safety checks.
