Overview

Sport and Active Lifestyle at the University of Chester is expanding its coaching team and we\\\’re looking for passionate volunteer coaches to get involved. Whether you\\\’re newly qualified or looking to build your coaching experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with university students and make a real impact on both participation and competitive sport.

As a volunteer coach, you\\\’ll support enthusiastic players of all abilities and help shape the future of sport at Chester. Clubs train twice a week, and we ask that coaches commit to attending at least one session weekly. Final training days and times will be confirmed shortly. The department is looking for a voluntary coach to work with the Women\\\’s Basketball Club. The club currently play in the BUCS Northern Tier 3 on Wednesday afternoons.

Job purpose

To coach university sport clubs

Key duties and responsibilities

  • To lead and deliver structured coaching sessions to all members of the club, being inclusive of all abilities
  • To work collaboratively with club captains and committee members
  • To follow the sportCHESTER coaches code of conduct
  • To act in a professional manner as expected of a sports\\\’ coach
  • To hold a Level 1 coaching qualification in the relevant sport
  • Experience of playing the relevant sport to at least club standard
  • To undertake a DBS prior to commencement
  • To complete university safeguarding training

Contracts

Contracts will run from October – December 2025, then January – 30 April 2026
