Overview

The Division of Allied Health, Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society invites applications for a Senior Lecturer in Food Science. This is a 1.0 FTE permanent appointment with a salary range of £44,746 – £50,253 per annum. The role supports innovative teaching and scholarly activity across a range of programmes in the Division.

We deliver postgraduate programmes including Food Science and Innovation, Public Health Nutrition, Exercise and Nutrition Science, Human Nutrition, Lifestyle Management, Cardiovascular Health and Rehabilitation, and Dietetics. As a specialist in food science, you will help shape these programmes by embedding core food science principles at their foundation.

We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in Food Science and Innovation. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant higher degree, have proven experience in higher education teaching, and possess excellent communication, organisation and collaboration skills. A developing research profile in a relevant area is desirable, and we are committed to supporting your academic growth.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to teaching across the Division’s programmes, with emphasis on Food Science and Innovation.
  • Engage in scholarly activity and contribute to the development of the Division’s research profile.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support programme delivery and curriculum development; embed core food science principles across study areas.

Qualifications

  • Relevant higher degree and proven experience in higher education teaching.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and collaboration skills.
  • A developing research trajectory in a relevant area is desirable.
