Payroll Manager

A fantastic opportunity to join an established and supportive team at the University of Chester as our new Payroll Manager-a key role within the Human Resources management team.

We\’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic professional to lead our in-house Payroll team. You will be responsible for delivering a seamless, accurate, and timely payroll service. From starters and leavers to pensions and statutory payments, you\’ll ensure every detail is handled with professionalism and precision and care.

You\’ll also oversee compliance with HMRC obligations, tax regulations, and audit requirements, while ensuring the smooth operation of our pension schemes, including the Teachers\’ Pension Scheme, Local Government Pension Scheme, and Higher Education Defined Contribution Scheme, ensuring all payroll and pension processes are robust and compliant,

What we\’re looking for:

  • A relevant payroll management qualification (e.g. CIPP) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience managing complex payrolls and multiple pension schemes, with strong knowledge of PAYE processes, statutory reporting, and pension regulations.
  • A proactive leader with a commitment to excellence and compliance.
  • Knowledge of Pension Regulations and associated reporting and compliance
