The University of Chester is looking for two skilled Chefs to join our friendly Hospitality & Events team at Exton Park. This is a hands-on kitchen role where you’ll work closely with the Kitchen Co-ordinator and the wider catering team to prepare and serve a range of fresh dishes every day. Our catering service supports students, staff, and visitors, and prides itself on delivering consistently high standards – from day-to-day service to large-scale events.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Preparing and cooking fresh, quality food to a high standard
- Working with the Kitchen Co-ordinator to plan daily requirements
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, HACCP, COSHH, and health & safety standards
- Supporting the team with menu planning, stock checks, and food service
- Delivering excellent customer service, working flexibly to meet student and staff needs
- Maintaining high standards in a busy, professional kitchen environment
What We’re Looking For
- City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ Level 2 in Catering (or equivalent)
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (essential)
- Experience in a professional kitchen environment
- A calm, adaptable team player with great communication skills
- Ability to stay positive and productive under pressure
- Desirable extras include NVQ Level 3, Intermediate Food Hygiene, or experience in patisserie or competition work.
