We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Facilities Site Assistant to join our Campus Operations team. This is a hands-on role where you will help ensure the campus is safe, welcoming, clean and fully operational for staff, students and visitors. Working alongside Security and Welcome teams, you’ll deliver high-quality front-line support and play a key role in maintaining the day-to-day running of the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general facilities and caretaking support across campus
- Act as a first responder to maintenance issues
- Support health & safety activities, including weekly fire testing
- Assist with room setups, furniture moves and event preparation
- Help maintain cleanliness and presentation of buildings and external areas
- Manage waste disposal and recycling areas
- Support building security and key control
- Deliver excellent customer service to staff, students and visitors
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to ensure smooth operations
About You
- We’re looking for someone who is reliable, practical and enjoys working in a busy, people-focused environment.
- Full clean driving licence
- Experience in a caretaking or similar role
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Physically able to carry out manual tasks
- Flexible approach to working hours (including rota and overtime)
- Willingness to complete First Aid training (if not already qualified)
- Experience working in a university or similar environment
- Basic IT skills
Working Pattern
- 5 days out of 7 on a rota basis
- Shifts typically include:
- Pattern A: 6.00am – 2.30pm (1.30pm Friday)
- Pattern B: 1.00pm – 9.30pm (12.00-7.30pm Friday)
- Flexibility required to meet operational needs.
