The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join our Technical Services team who provide support to the wide variety of laboratories at our Preston campus. The successful candidate will primarily be focused on supporting undergraduate classes and research within our state-of-the-art laboratories based in Preston.
Duties will include the set up and preparation of laboratories, providing day to day technical support and advice to staff and to students studying a diverse range of subjects in the Pharmacy area, from dispensing medication to tablet manufacturing. Although the successful candidate will be required to show flexibility in supporting several areas, the primary function for this role is to ensure delivery of a wide range of Pharmacy courses.
The successful candidate will help coordinate and undertake maintenance and configuration of equipment and relevant software, as well as help with the introduction of new technologies, procedures and practices and be familiar with pharmaceutical dispensing and laboratory equipment.
Educated to undergraduate degree level in science subject or related subject or equivalent experiential learning in industry, candidates should have experience of preparing, supporting and clearing away laboratory environments. Experience in a customer facing technical support role is also essential., Candidates need to be practical people with a keen interest in science and technology supported by great customer service skills. The ability to adapt knowledge and experience to support staff and students across the wide range of subject disciplines we support would be a distinct advantage.
