The Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) team manages and supports the optimal use of learning technologies across the Institute's diverse course portfolio, as well as having overall responsibility for running the Institute's non-award bearing fully online course portfolio. This includes courses run on our own Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), and those offered on our partner's platforms (edX, Coursera, etc.). ICE's mission is to enable learning throughout life and to widen access to higher education. We design, deliver and curate a portfolio of world leading short courses and award bearing qualifications in a broad range of disciplines.

Working with the Assistant Director - Technology Enhanced Learning, and in collaboration with the Deputy Director, Academic Centre Division (Student and Professional Services), the role-holder will have responsibility for supporting Academic Directors, Course Directors, tutors, staff and students, by designing and implementing robust Training Programmes and Support Resources across a variety of platforms (VLE, Zoom, Panopto, Turnitin, etc.). The role-holder will also work with the Assistant Director - Technology Enhanced Learning to identify and test new platforms and technologies to support teaching and learning across the Institute.

The role-holder will line manage the TEL Administrator team, who together will have responsibility for:

  • support of prospective and current students on queries related to the Online Course portfolio;
  • first-line technical support for our VLE and other platforms (Zoom, Panopto, Turnitin, etc.) via the TEL Helpdesk.

The role-holder will adopt a student-centred approach at all times seeking to maximise student learning and the overall student experience. The role-holder also supports Institute users; students, tutors, administrators and examiners in their use of the Institute's VLEs and coordinates system improvements and upgrades with the central University Information Services' (UIS) Moodle Team.

Your Skills

  • Have substantial experience of working with Moodle or a similar LMS platform, and a good knowledge of industry-standard digital learning technologies and platforms.
  • Have experience as a trainer with the ability to train F2F/online, and experience creating training material and resources for varied audiences.
  • Have experience line managing a small team.
  • Have a student/user centred approach to providing support and assistance.

ICE is supportive of hybrid working, the current arrangements have staff working 2 days on site in Madingley Hall and 3 days worked remotely, for those working Monday to Friday and where the role allows. These arrangements are subject to change and will not form part of the terms and conditions of employment.
