Salary £26,226 – £29,986 (pro rata for 0.96 FTE) + 15% Shift Allowance = £30,160 – £34,484 per annum. This equates to an hourly rate of £13.50-£15.52 plus a 15% uplift.

Responsibilities

We have an exciting opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our nursing team at the Queens Veterinary School Hospital. The referral hospital is a fast-paced environment which requires adaptability and the ability to work well under pressure. The role is to provide nursing to a standard in the Small Animal Wing, which consists of four dogs, two cats, critical care and isolation wards housing an average of 15-25 patients during the overnight period.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide nursing in the Small Animal Inpatient areas, including surgical, medical and critical care nursing (training can be given in critical care procedures).
  • Cleaning, hygiene and administration duties linked to inpatient care.
  • Work on two 12-hour shifts (2100-0900hrs) every 7 weeks; rotas planned in advance to support work-life balance.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students and clients; work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Shifts have Veterinary Intern and Veterinary Care Assistant support.

Qualifications and Skills

Registered Veterinary Nurse with the ability to adapt to a busy clinical environment and provide high standards of patient care. Experience in surgical, medical and critical care nursing is desirable; training can be provided in critical care procedures.
