The key responsibilities and duties associated with this post include leading and managing a research group focused on data-centric construction, encompassing data acquisition (e.g. sensing, monitoring) and/or data engineering/science, develop and maintain strong partnerships with industry stakeholders to promote the exploitation of research outputs and team capabilities and to share ‘best practice’ skills, assisting with the development and delivery of high-quality teaching, publishing research findings in leading academic journals, securing external research funding to support and initiate new complementary research initiatives, assisting with the supervision and general management of the CSIC team, and networking with other research centres both within Cambridge and beyond.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role include (i) a PhD in construction/civil/information engineering or a cognate discipline, (ii) a track record in data-centric construction, (iii) some experience of applying for research funding, (iv) excellent communication skills at all levels, (v) commitment to a ‘gold-standard’ research culture, (vi) a track record of the highest quality research, (vii) willingness to supervise research students, (viii) commitment to teaching, and (ix) a demonstrable interest in working with industry.

Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate: (1) high-quality research output: preferably first author on at least 4 papers in the past 2-3 years, or similar. The level of four publications is the lowest possible limit at which an appointment could be credible; (2) independence: including helping manage a group, partly running a research project, (co-)supervising students etc; (3) strong supporting references.

Appointment at Senior Research Associate level is dependent on significant experience as a postdoctoral research associate or equivalent post-PhD experience, with proven impact from authored publications.
