The Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics is seeking to appoint a part-time Teaching Associate (0.5FTE) in Computational Linguistics. This role is to provide temporary cover until 30 September 2027.

Educated to a PhD level, the role holder will have core technical expertise in Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing. Successful candidates will have prior experience of teaching delivery in this area and excellent presentation and communication skills.

The role holder will be expected to contribute to the teaching, research supervision and examining for the MPhil in Linguistics and Language Sciences. They will also contribute to some teaching, supervision and examining for the Department's undergraduate course in Linguistics. They will work with the Postgraduate Administrator to monitor student attainment, wellbeing and feedback, and undertake administrative duties commensurate with the grade of the role.

The successful candidate will be based at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics which is part of the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics. The department offers excellent theoretical and empirical research in a broad spread of fields form historical linguistics and comparative syntax to language processing and computational linguistics. It also houses the Language Technology Laboratory which conducts research in the areas of Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing.
