Applications are open for a permanent full-time Building Service Technician role based in the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre (JCBC) - a state-of-the-art research building located on the Biomedical Campus which opened in 2019 and houses up to 900 staff in three separate research Institutes. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Building Services Team, supporting the efficient and effective functioning of the JCBC and the research groups based here. The post holder will work on a rotational basis to manage key tasks, in addition to any ad hoc duties as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Distribution and collection of parcels and incoming mail
- Collection of hazardous waste from labs and collection points
- Assisting in cleaning and distribution of glassware
- Assisting in media preparation and autoclaving
- Filling liquid nitrogen vessels and changing gas cylinders
- Water safety maintenance duties
- Assisting the senior Building Service Technicians with minor maintenance tasks
- Assisting with fire testing procedures
- Providing furniture and managing room layouts for events
Qualifications and Requirements
The successful candidates will need to demonstrate good organisational and prioritisation skills, excellent levels of communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of laboratory environments and associated hazards and IT competence. The post holder may be required to attend training sessions associated with tasks relevant to this role. Previous experience in a similar role would be advantageous. The post is permanent and for 36.5 hours per week.
