We are seeking to recruit a postdoctoral Research Associate with a background in cell biology and an interest in infection research to join the laboratory of Dr Camilla Godlee in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Cambridge, UK. The Godlee lab studies how bacterial pathogens interact with eukaryotic membrane dynamics during infection and how this enables disease. The candidate will join an MRC-funded project to study how Salmonella remodels host membrane dynamics in collaboration with Dr David Gershlick at the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research. The project aims to determine how vesicle trafficking and organelle composition are modified during infection and will involve applying advanced cell biological techniques to study Salmonella infection biology.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out research on how Salmonella interacts with host membrane dynamics and vesicle trafficking during infection.
  • Apply advanced cell biological techniques to investigate Salmonella infection biology, including microscopy and molecular biology methods.
  • Collaborate with the Cambridge Institute for Medical Research and other group members; contribute to the research culture of a new research group.
  • Communicate findings effectively and be prepared to take a leadership role in supervising research students.

Qualifications

  • PhD in cell biology or a related field, with demonstrated research impact and an interest in infection research.
  • Previous experience in cell biological techniques, including microscopy and molecular biology, is essential.
  • Background in microbiology is welcome.
