In an exciting new initiative, the Physical Sciences and Technology Teams of Cambridge University Libraries and Archives are looking to appoint to the newly created post of Liaison Librarian. This is a full-time, permanent position. This presents an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to work within a stimulating and diverse environment, supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students and academic staff with their information needs.

This role will lead on liaison with key stakeholders in the Department of Physics and the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy and on the delivery of training sessions and dedicated enquiry and research support for them. They will also be involved in initiatives working with colleagues across the West Cambridge community. The role oversees collection development in Physics and Materials Science and Metallurgy and has line management responsibility for two Library Assistants. They are responsible for the departmental library budgets and will establish effective working relationships with staff in academic, support departments and professional colleagues.

We are looking for an engaged, enthusiastic library professional to take the new library forward! As Liaison Librarian you will:

  • Deliver reader services across the West Cambridge Site.
  • Lead on Academic liaison with Departments of Physics and Materials Science and Metallurgy.
  • Lead on training sessions in these areas and support colleagues more generally across West Cambridge.
  • Oversight of these two libraries.
