The Centre for Security and Intelligence Studies (BUCSIS) was established at Buckingham in 2008, and has since grown to become one of the premier academic centres focusing on this subject-area in the UK, with approximately 150 current students across undergraduate, postgraduate and professional-oriented courses and programmes.
As Associate Professor/Professor and BUCSIS Director the role is to provide operational and strategic leadership for the BUCSIS team and Politics/IR within the Social Sciences area of the Faculty of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences. This role will continue to project the centre nationally and internationally as a premier provider of academic and professional skills development in the broad security sector, which encompasses a wide and growing range of career opportunities in a variety of public and private sector roles. In so doing, the role also projects the brand of the University of Buckingham as an innovative and developing provider of high-quality higher education.
The successful applicant will be expected to have degrees in the relevant subject area and relevant teaching and research experience in Security and Intelligence studies. The candidate should have a portfolio that enables them to demonstrate their skills and knowledge in this discipline. Candidates with background/experience in Security and Intelligence studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Professional qualifications such as a recognised Higher Education teaching qualification or Higher Education Academy Fellowship would be advantageous.
