The role Are you ready to lead cutting-edge translational research in a world-class biomedical environment? The Translational Bioscience Research Centre (TBRC) is seeking a highly skilled Level 1 Technical Expert to join our pioneering team. This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of pre‑clinical research, enabling academic endeavours by delivering high‑level professional expertise and carrying out sophisticated techniques.
Why TBRC? TBRC operates as a unique research facility under the One Health concept, integrating Home Office, Clinical, and regulatory study standards. With over 15 active translational projects and a strong pipeline of collaborations, you’ll be immersed in a dynamic and advanced biomedical environment. As Study Director, you will enjoy a unique vantage point, witnessing the birth of new medicine, and facilitating its progress to first‑in‑human.

What will you be doing?
- Deliver high‑level technical expertise in translational research, including surgical and anaesthesia techniques, tissue processing, and equipment calibration.
- Collaborate with leading academics and external partners to design and execute complex studies.
- Act as Study Director for specific projects, contributing to grant applications, strategic planning and liaison with commercial sponsors.
- Lead on compliance, governance, and quality assurance, including SOPs, risk assessments, and chain of custody protocols.
- Provide expert guidance and training to students and researchers, enhancing the educational experience.
- Influence policy, contribute to national‑scale lab networks, and drive innovation in technical services.
You should apply if you have:
- A recognised authority in translational large animal science and regulatory studies, with proven Study Director experience.
- Experience of/or willingness to hold Project Licenses.
- Dissection & tissue fixing skills, excellent laboratory bench skills including confidence in handling test items, dilution of vectors, etc.
- Strong academic background (relevant degree essential; doctorate desirable).
- Exceptional organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.
- Experience with specialist equipment (e.g. anaesthetic systems, expert level dissection and tissue pre‑processing).
