The role
We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the University of Bristol’s Electrical Energy Management Group (EEMG) as part of a major EPSRC-funded initiative on Sustainable Electrification. You will contribute to the design and control of high-performance integrated electrical machines and power converters, supporting the transition to low-carbon transport and energy systems. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with leading academic and industrial partners in a multi-disciplinary environment.
What will you be doing?
- Developing control strategies for electric machines and drives using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Supporting hardware-in-the-loop testing and real-time simulations (e.g. using Speedgoat).
- Contributing to the electromagnetic and thermal design of machines using FEA tools.
- Engaging with collaborators and disseminating research findings.
You should apply if
- You have a PhD (or are close to completion) in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field, OR have equivalent industrial experience.
- You have experience in electric machine control, power electronics, and system modelling.
- You can demonstrate skills in simulation (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink) and machine design tools (e.g. MotorCAD, ANSYS Maxwell).
- You are motivated to work collaboratively in an applied research environment.
