The role is for someone passionate about equity, justice and liberation, supporting people to campaign for social change. You will support student representatives to influence, challenge and campaign, ensuring that the SU's student voice and campaigns are relevant and have liberation at their heart.
You’ll advise student leaders and community organisers, ensuring their projects and campaigns are evidence-based and reflect the latest student opinion. Collaboration with teams across Bristol SU is essential, forming a key link with the Academic Representation Team and the Research and Insight Team to inform students about opportunities for change-making.
Your responsibilities include leading and supporting Community Organising work, ensuring it is sector-leading and built on the principle of students working together to drive change. You will be an expert in supporting and empowering students from marginalised backgrounds, committed to liberation for all students and developing organising strategies for community success.
You will support the SU's liberation-focused student leaders, providing individual support for those leaders and elected officers. Working closely with others in the Liberation and Campaigns team, you will ensure diverse representation in democratic processes and assist in building impactful campaigns around significant issues.
Experience as a community organiser or skills in elevating unheard voices are beneficial. You will help students connect with others who share their experiences, delivering work that supports the aim of being a progressive union, increasing representation of marginalised groups and empowering students to challenge inequality.
You will play a key role in ensuring Bristol SU meets the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and lobbying the University for an improved student experience and education. Previous experience in higher education or a students’ union is not required, but you should be a natural problem-solver with excellent administration skills, adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
