You must have strong interpersonal skills, be able to supervise and mentor a team, and have the ability to make operational decisions. Communication is a key part of the role as you will be expected to regularly interact with staff and students, and use proactive and responsive security methods to ensure the delivery of a comprehensive service, which goes beyond the traditional security standards and focuses on customer service.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving university and enhance its Estates & Facilities Management Team (EFM). As our Security Shift Leader, you will be an important part of an EFM Team that supports a community of over 18,000 students and 2,300 staff based on campuses in Brighton. The Campus Security Team is committed to building a diverse team of professionals whose role it is to create a safe and secure environment for students, staff and visitors, a place where everyone feels safe and welcome 24/7, 365 days a year.

You will be primarily responsible for supervising one of four security shift teams, leading your team to establish a secure and safe environment for staff, students, visitors and securing the University’s assets. You will organise the team to cover all essential security duties, act as the main point of contact during non-core hours, make operational decisions or escalate to the Head of Security when appropriate. By monitoring standards of work and professionalism, you will help maintain a secure and welcoming environment for all.

As well as this being a good career development opportunity, we offer excellent benefits that include a local government pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement and discounted sports facilities and activities.
