Are you passionate about shaping the future of architecture? Join Our Team as a Lecturer in Architectural Design, Creative Practice & Housing.

We’re looking for an inspiring lecturer to lead an undergraduate design studio focused on housing and emerging architectural practices on a fixed term contract until 19/06/2026. As part of our vibrant Architecture and Design subject area, you’ll teach primarily at Levels 5 and 6, guiding students as they develop creative, technical, and professional skills that prepare them for real-world success.

Brighton’s Architecture and Design courses are renowned for their industry-focused, practice-led approach, producing award-winning graduates who make an impact. We’re seeking a colleague who will bring energy, expertise, and vision—someone ready to lead, support, and inspire the next generation of architects.

In order to be successful in this role you should have expertise in one or more of:

  • Up-to-date, sound knowledge of the subject, including contemporary professional and vocational advancements (such as emerging theories and practices in architecture and design) in general, and one of the following areas of specialism in particular:
    • Digital and/or analogue drawing, modelling, and communication
    • Sustainable design and construction
    • Housing
  • Up-to-date knowledge of architectural design, including emerging theories and professional trends
  • A relevant postgraduate degree in Architecture (e.g., MArch, MSc, MA)
  • Experience teaching design studio at undergraduate level and supporting students with diverse backgrounds and levels of knowledge

Our Lecturers also serve as personal tutors, offering pastoral support and guidance. This includes listening with empathy, understanding individual student needs, and referring them to specialist services when appropriate.

If you would like an informal discussion before applying, please get in touch with Tom Ainsworth (t.ainsworth@brighton.ac.uk) or Sarah Stevens (S.Stevens2@brighton.ac.uk).

This role is offered on a part-time basis (0.6 full-time equivalent), and is fixed term until 19/06/2026, based at our Moulsecoomb campus.
