Role Overview

The Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange) (APVC) reports directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange). The role focuses on implementing the University Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategic Plan, ensuring quality and impact across the institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead REF preparations, focusing on the units of assessment in one of the three panels to which the University plans to make a submission.
  • Lead KEF preparations in the APVC’s areas of responsibility, agreed with the PVC RKE.
  • Provide academic leadership of one of the University’s three Innovation Hubs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Associate Directors of Research, Knowledge Exchange, and Contracts, Intellectual Property, and Governance; with the Director of the Doctoral College; with the Directors of the Centres of Research Excellence (COREs); and with the Departmental Research and Knowledge Exchange Coordinators.
  • Facilitate the establishment and development of research and knowledge exchange activities and capabilities to drive excellence.
  • Support the continued growth of the university’s research and knowledge exchange culture and enhance the experience of students, end-users, companies, and other partners.
  • Use influence and motivation to increase research and knowledge exchange performance against key internal and external metrics.

The position is a fixed-term, full-time role for 3 years, with the option for job share.
