An exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team in Information Services at the University of Brighton
If you’re looking for a role where you can apply your all‑round IT skills in a meaningful, supportive environment — we can offer exactly that.
Our Student Systems team develops, integrates and supports the University’s core student management systems, which handle everything from applications and enrolments to fees, results, placements, wellbeing and awards.
We’re now looking for someone to help us make the very best use of these systems.
Our primary development platform is SITS e: Vision, a proprietary toolkit used to build self‑service functions for students and applicants, as well as tools for staff to maintain student records.
Full training will be provided — what you’ll bring is an analytical mindset, an aptitude for web development and a willingness to learn.
Student data underpins almost every university process, and we support integrations with finance, accommodation, timetabling, UCAS, our VLE and identity management systems.
You’ll work across a mix of on‑premise and cloud‑hosted services, applying your SQL, PL/SQL, web services and scripting experience to maintain and enhance them.
We will also want you to play a key role in system support — from upgrades and patching to third‑line investigation, debugging and vendor liaison.
Strong customer service, clear communication and confident data analysis will be essential.
We’d be delighted to welcome someone who sees themselves thriving in this role that's based at our Moulsecoomb campus, with modern learning, working and social spaces.
This is a full‑time (37.0 hours per week), permanent post with opportunities for flexible working and we welcome applications from candidates seeking to job share.
The University offers generous leave, training and development, on‑site fitness facilities and a range of travel and shopping discounts.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, and support core student management systems using SITS e: Vision.
- Support integrations with finance, accommodation, timetabling, UCAS, VLE, and identity management systems.
- Maintain and enhance on‑premise and cloud‑hosted services using SQL, PL/SQL, web services, and scripting.
- Handle system support duties, including upgrades, patching, third‑line investigation, debugging, and vendor liaison.
Qualifications
- Analytical mindset.
- Aptitude for web development.
- Willingness to learn.
- Experience with SQL, PL/SQL, web services, and scripting.
- Strong customer service orientation, clear communication, and confident data analysis.
Benefits
Full‑time (37.0 hours per week), permanent post with flexible working options, job share opportunities, generous leave, training and development, on‑site fitness facilities, and a range of travel and shopping discounts.
Equal Opportunities
The University is committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment for all staff regardless of age, disability, family or caring responsibilities, gender identity, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief (including non‑belief), sex and sexual orientation.
We embrace equality and diversity in our working, learning, research and teaching environment and are committed to maintaining a supportive and inclusive community.
We particularly encourage applicants from Minority Ethnic backgrounds because the University is under‑represented by Minority Ethnic staff.
For the vast majority of our roles we operate an agile working system, with time split between working on campus and at the employee's home.
It is the University's expectation that home working will take place within the UK.
Further information about working for us, as well as the wide range of benefits we offer, can be found in the working with us section of our vacancies page.
