PE Teacher with Rugby Specialism
The Burgess Hill Academy boasts excellent sports facilities, including expansive playing fields, a state-of-the-art 3G pitch, six tennis courts, a fully equipped sports hall, a gym and a fitness suite. These facilities allow us to deliver high-quality PE lessons alongside a broad and engaging extra-curricular programme.
Our PE team delivers a diverse range of sports including football, netball, rugby, basketball, gymnastics, dance, handball, trampolining, athletics, cricket, rounders, tennis, volleyball, badminton, boxing, cheerleading and table tennis. At Key Stage 4, we offer both the Cambridge National in Sports Studies and AQA GCSE PE, providing students with strong pathways for further study and careers in sport.
Beyond lessons, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities including football, rugby, basketball, cricket, athletics, netball and run club. We are committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for students to engage in sport outside of lessons, with regular fixtures and tournaments that help foster both participation and healthy competition.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and engaging Teacher of PE to join our established team on a permanent basis. We are particularly keen to appoint a rugby specialist who is enthusiastic about developing this important area of our curriculum and extra-curricular provision, helping to grow participation and competitive opportunities for students across the academy.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a drive for excellence and a desire to be outstanding
- Is highly organised, motivated and driven to succeed
- Is a specialist in PE with the ability to teach a broad range of sports
- Has the expertise and enthusiasm to develop rugby within both the curriculum and extra-curricular programme
- Works collaboratively with colleagues to support the progress and development of all students
- Ideally has a proven track record of achieving strong outcomes at GCSE and vocational sport qualifications
- Has the enthusiasm, presence and authority to deliver consistently high-quality lessons
