Directorate We are seeking a proactive, self‑motivated and highly organised person for the role of Visa Support Officer within the Directorate of Outreach, Recruitment and Marketing. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational provision of immigration and visa advice and support to current and prospective international students, including issuing Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letters. The post holder will play an important role in supporting the University’s compliance with UKVI regulations affecting international students, working closely with colleagues across the University to ensure compliance with Student Route visa conditions. This role will also contribute to improving applicant conversion and student retention through timely, accurate and professional visa advice and guidance. Responsibilities * The Visa Support Officer will provide immigration and visa advice and support to prospective applicants and current students, helping them to make successful Student Route visa applications. * The role will involve issuing CAS letters using the UKVI online service, ensuring all required checks are completed in line with UKVI and University requirements. * The post holder will act as a key point of contact for colleagues in international recruitment, overseas partners, Faculties and Professional Services on matters relating to the Student Route of the Points Based System and UKVI reporting requirements. * The role will support the operational delivery of the University’s Visa Refusal Action Plan, undertaking checks to help reduce the risk of maintenance and credibility refusals. * The successful candidate will provide guidance on visa issues to potential applicants and current students applying for Student Route leave to enter or remain in the UK. * The role will require the post holder to maintain a strong working knowledge of immigration law, policy and procedure, and to understand how changes may affect University processes and the international student experience. * The Visa Support Officer will run visa information sessions for students wishing to extend their visas throughout the academic year. * The post holder will provide immigration advice and casework at OISC Level 1 under the support and guidance of the Visa Support Manager, including producing confidential case notes. * The role will involve working flexibly as part of a team of Visa Support Officers to manage caseloads and support the wider service. * Annual leave is restricted during August and September due to the nature of the role and the demands of the international student recruitment cycle. * The University operates a hybrid working model, but there is an expectation that individuals are available to work on campus to meet service demand. Qualifications / Experience * GCSE English and Maths or equivalent, or equivalent experience * Significant experience in HE/FE administration and the delivery of excellent customer service * Experience of managing compliance with regulations * Experience of handling client confidentiality * Significant experience of using SITS and SMS systems * High level of accuracy and attention to detail * Strong administrative and organisational skills * Demonstrable knowledge of the international student journey and issues facing international students in higher education * Demonstrable knowledge of higher education processes * Experience of working in a large and complex organisation would be desirable * Experience of delivering complex immigration advice and support to migrants would be desirable * Ability to demonstrate an inclusive approach to working with staff and students Celebrating Diversity – The University of Bradford Within the Directorate of Outreach, Recruitment and Marketing, we are committed to creating an inclusive and diverse working environment where staff can be themselves and have the support and adjustments needed to be successful within their role.
