This role provides leadership for the University’s ambitious Inclusive Cultures and Intersectionality agenda. The remit is broad and deep, encompassing university strategic priorities and values: Trust, Inclusion, Innovation and Excellence, alongside regulatory and compliance activity that affects both student and colleague communities.

The postholder will play a pivotal role in advancing the academic and professional mission of the Centre for Inclusion and Diversity, fostering a vibrant research environment that supports EDI-related research, academic development (including CPD), and knowledge exchange activities.

  • Draw from your knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks, including the Equality Act 2010, the Office for Students Condition E6, and the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Act 2023 to champion intersectional thinking and removal of systemic barriers to belonging;
  • Provide expert advice, insight, evidence, and evaluation to strengthen the design, delivery, and impact of EDI initiatives including equality charters across the University;
  • Shape a values-led, inclusive culture by translating the EDI framework into clear, actionable plans, using data and insight to identify challenges, drive progress, and measure impact;
  • Lead EDI governance, performance, insight, and evaluation, ensuring alignment with the University’s Strategy and priorities;
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, adopting a collaborative and solution-focused approach and navigating complex and sensitive issues with confidence and care.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Experienced and credible EDI professional with a strong commitment to inclusive practice;
  • Sound judgement, ability to lead and influence within your area of responsibility, and confidence in navigating complex regulatory and policy landscapes;
  • Skilled in using data and insight to inform decision-making, support effective delivery, and demonstrate impact.
