The University of Bradford’s Centre for Digital Innovations in Health & Social Care is embarking on an exciting programme of rapid growth. We are seeking a collaborative and motivated Associate Professor in Health Economics to contribute to the growth and development of the Centre.
Our Centre is multidisciplinary, undertaking high quality co‑created applied research that:
- informs the design and implementation of new technologies in national and international health and care systems;
- explores the impact of such technologies on patients, service users, carers, and health and social care professionals.
The Centre’s research employs theory‑driven approaches that offer an understanding of the contextual factors that impact the success of an innovation, informing both future technology design and its implementation. Research in the Centre is mixed method, combining qualitative data that delivers deep insight with the quantitative data that caters to the needs of policymakers.

What you will be doing:
The successful applicant will undertake multi‑disciplinary, high profile research that aligns with one or both of the Centre’s two flagship research programmes concerned with:
- use of technology to improve decision making and reduce documentation burden;
- use of technology to reduce the carbon footprint of the health and social care system.
Additionally, they will support the Centre’s activities in education, continuing professional development, and consultancy, contributing to the Centre’s long‑term sustainability.
Qualifications/experience:
- PhD in Health Economics or related subject, or demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Experience of securing research funding and a track record of high quality academic publications.
- Application of health economics to the evaluation of digital health interventions is particularly desirable.
