Directorate

The University of Bradford is seeking a motivated, detail-orientated Research Finance Officer to provide financial information and advice to grants holders.

You will provide information to project holders to enable them to utilise the available funding. You will submit claims and invoices.

We are looking for a reliable, organised individual with experience in finance, strong attention to detail, and good communication skills.

What You Will Be Doing

Responsible for the day-to day financial management of a large portfolio of research grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, University policies, and grant award conditions.

Preparation of financial claims to meet grant specific deadlines, the gathering documentary evidence, including timesheets, invoices & receipts where required.

Proactively oversee projects, interrogate nominal ledger data to analyse against budget, investigate and resolve financial anomalies, process journals and transaction corrections, produce financial reports for grant holders, and respond to stakeholder enquiries in a professional, timely and confidential manner.

Qualifications/ Experience

• Level 2 qualification e.g. GCSE - grades 9-4 or grades A*, A, B, C including Maths and English or substantial relevant practical experience.
• Knowledge of and ability to interpret funder terms and conditions.
• Ability to utilise Windows-based software applications, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of colleagues, including academic, administrative, financial, and non-financial staff, both within and outside the University.
• Experience in working with financial systems
• Knowledge of general ledger systems.
• High standard of numeracy and accuracy.
