An exciting opportunity has arisen within Student Services for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Student Advisor. Student Services are looking for an individual with a βcan-doβ attitude who is an excellent team player, able to deliver excellent customer service during demanding and busy periods.
Our Student Advisors provide academic and pastoral information, advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders including current and prospective students. Working as part of a team, you will also undertake a range of administrative and clerical duties to support the wider Student Services department.
The successful candidate will be required to process and assess applications from students seeking financial support, to advise and assist students applying for Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) and to utilise the student records system for the production of letters, references and council tax exemption forms.
The successful candidate will have effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to maintain a confidential, helpful and cooperative manner when working under pressure. You will be required to work flexibly as part of the Student Services team, supporting other teams such as Reception and the Life Lounge. You may on occasion be required to deliver a service from other locations such as the Queens Specialist Building, Greater Manchester Business School or Institute of Medical Sciences.
You should be committed to continuous improvement and creative ways of working, and be able to support with the delivery of new projects and the advancement of service provision. You will be working with a diverse student body and be able to show sensitivity to individual difference.
In order to meet the needs of the University and Student Services, a flexible approach to working patterns / hours is an essential requirement of this role. The successful candidate will be able to manage competing deadlines and have the ability to use their own initiative.
