Birmingham International Academy (BIA) is part of Academic Services and collaborates with Colleges to provide Presessional English, Academic English and Foundation programmes. BIA has an international cohort and is responsible for safeguarding students under 18. It is accredited by the British Council.

The Social Organiser will work within the BIA Operations and Administrative team during the summer period. Responsibilities include organising social events for the international student cohort (approximately 1000 students and 100+ teachers), staying within budget, risk assessing events (especially for under‑18s) and coordinating with external providers.

Main Duties:
  • Work with a small team of social organisers to oversee social activities.
  • Welcome students and deliver an introductory presentation on the first day.
  • Plan evening and weekend social activities, including online events, to help students familiarise with the campus and Birmingham.
  • Encourage students to develop speaking and listening skills during events.
  • Publicise events to Programme Directors and key staff.
  • Disseminate information via newsletter, posters, email and CANVAS.
