b Overview /b p Role drives the University’s global profile through strategic, multi-channel media engagement. You will shape and deliver campaigns in collaboration with Colleges, ER and the Communications centre of excellence to amplify research and education initiatives. You will identify media opportunities, manage spokespeople, and coach others to raise impact. This role supports the University’s Global Top ambitions and requires flexibility and travel as needed. /p b Pay / Benefits /b ul li 40 days paid holiday per year /li li one paid volunteering day per year /li li occupational sick pay /li li pension scheme /li li three subsidised day nurseries /li li flexible working arrangements /li /ul b Responsibilities /b ul li Plan and deliver creative, multi-channel media engagement campaigns to raise the University’s profile and impact, with performance reporting. /li li Collaborate with Colleges, Research Communications Portfolio Managers, the Centre of Excellence, ER, and external partners to unify impact strategies. /li li Log activity in the planning tool and contribute to news gathering and discussions about assignments. /li li Adapt focus across academic areas and audiences in response to strategic priorities. /li li Conduct audience insight to shape communications planning and monitor performance against targets. /li li Create high-quality content across channels (social media, press releases, publications, etc.) and manage development of collaterals with agencies and suppliers. /li li Build relationships with media, policymakers, funders, industry experts, and other stakeholders; leverage CRM for targeted communications. /li li Identify institutional media spokespeople, provide media training, and secure opportunities to enhance public research communication. /li li Represent communications on committees, deputise in leadership roles, and manage staff where applicable. /li li Promote brand consistency, support crisis communications, and contribute to on-call duties and other duties as required. /li li Support equality, diversity, and inclusion, sustainability, and flexible working arrangements across activities. /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li Degree-level education in communications or closely related field (or equivalent practical experience). /li li Significant experience in a Communications/Press/PR role within a large, complex organization. /li li Proven news judgement and ability to weigh inputs for story merit. /li li Experience in devising and delivering multi-channel strategic communications plans. /li li Understanding of higher education sector dynamics and issues. /li li Proven track record in media relations and proactive story selling. /li li Crisis communications experience. /li li Strong project management skills with multiple stakeholders. /li li Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences across channels. /li li Digital literacy and experience with digital and social media channels. /li li Ability to influence, collaborate, and build consensus with senior colleagues and external partners. /li li Cultural awareness and sensitivity in engaging diverse audiences. /li li Discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle sensitive information; data analysis skills for insights. /li /ul ul li excellent writing /li li interpersonal communication /li li creativity /li li multi-channel communications planning /li li media relations and spokesperson training /li li crisis communications /li /ul
