Full time starting salary £25,977 to £27,506.

Role Summary

Visitor Receptionist during opening hours, welcoming visitors, issuing tickets, operating EPOS, managing visitor information and supporting the Shop and events sales.

Main Duties

  • Work in Visitor reception, familiar with service standards, opening reception and preparing house daily.
  • Welcome visitors, issue tickets, check membership cards and promote sales (gift aid, membership, guidebooks, events, raffle).
  • Oversee groups visit, manage visitor flow, minimise queues, manage visitor survey delivery & targets.
  • Operate EPOS and card transaction machines accurately.
  • Maintain First Aid proficiency, provide assistance when required.
  • Process membership and visitor data in required systems.
  • Respond to enquiries and manage the Winterbourne Contacts Mailbox.
  • Maintain GDPR compliance and privacy procedures.
  • Compile monthly visitor and membership reports.
  • Answer telephone, transfer calls professionally.
  • Assist daily banking returns to University accounts.
  • Carry out Health & Safety checks, report any issues.
  • Support equality, diversity and inclusion in all interactions.
  • Other duties within role grade.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

  • Literacy and numeracy skills (evidence by GCSE Maths and English D‑G/1‑3 or equivalent).
  • IT skills – competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook); experience with CRM systems advantageous.
  • Excellent face‑to‑face communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Self‑management and organisation of work schedule.
  • Customer focused approach.

Desirable: experience on a busy reception desk. Understanding of diversity considerations (e.g., dietary requirements).
