As a member of the Student Accommodation team, you will support the preparation of accommodation for conference groups and the summer programme, ensuring sites are ready for the new academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Customer Service team in auditing accommodation to identify maintenance and repairs.
  • Support end‑of‑contract duties such as rubbish removal before cleaning and refurbishment.
  • Handle furniture and equipment removal and replacement; heavy lifting required.
  • Carry out cleaning and sanitising of all areas, including sweeping, mopping, damp wiping, vacuuming and use of cleaning agents.
  • Report faults, maintenance defects, missing stock, emergencies, or building maintenance issues.
  • Maintain Health & Safety and COSHH compliance.
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards and wear required protective clothing.
  • Process maintenance requests reported by residents through the required procedures and update systems accurately.
  • Work cooperatively, politely, and helpfully with customers, colleagues, and visitors, providing high‑quality customer service and treating everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Carry out other duties requested by the Customer Service Team to prepare accommodation for arrivals.

Working Hours & Dates

Full‑time hours from 6 July 2026 to 28 September 2026 inclusive of key dates: 2 July (training), 11‑12 July, 5‑6 September, and 18‑20 September 2026. Commitment to all full‑time hours is mandatory.

Other Information

Positions are split across Vale Village and Selly Oak Village. This role does not manage others and does not own a budget.

Legal & Eligibility

Only current University of Birmingham students are eligible. Students may work up to 20 hours per week during term time for a maximum of 13 consecutive weeks. For special circumstances (PGT, PGR, PhD) or international students, additional approvals may be required. A right‑to‑work check must be completed before work commences.
