This project supports the design and development of an AI‑based platform for product triage and value recovery. The work is aligned with circular manufacturing and will contribute to a practical demonstrator combining image-based analysis, decision support and structured outputs.

The postholder will support the development of a prototype multi‑agent AI platform for product identification, condition assessment, valuation and triage. The role will focus on practical implementation tasks such as data preparation, prototyping, coding, testing, interface or dashboard development, and documenting progress and results.

Main Duties:

  • Support the design and implementation of a prototype multi‑agent AI platform.
  • Assist with image-based product identification, condition assessment and triage workflows.
  • Contribute to coding, testing and integration activities in Python and related tools.
  • Develop dashboards, interfaces or structured outputs for presenting decisions and evidence.
  • Document methods, results and progress, and support preparation of brief reports or presentation material.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Good practical skills in Python programming and rapid prototyping.
  • Some experience in AI/ML, computer vision, agent-based systems, dashboard or interface development.
  • Ability to work independently on a defined task while reporting progress clearly.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • An interest in robotics, circular manufacturing, decision-support systems, or industrial AI applications.

The hours for this position will be 0.4 FTE.

Eligibility:

You are only eligible to apply to this role if you are a current University of Birmingham student. The University of Birmingham restricts all students to working up to 20 hours per week during term time for a maximum of 13 consecutive weeks.
