The University of Birmingham invites applications for a PhD project investigating how Gram negative bacteria control accumulation of solvent molecules to improve solvent tolerance in E. coli.

The project is supervised by Tim Overton, Sara Jabbari and Jess Blair and will combine microbiology with quantitative modelling and bioprocessing. You will join a large, multidisciplinary team across four UK institutions to develop skills in microbial physiology, modelling and strain engineering.
