Full‑time, fixed‑term contract until October 2027. Grade 7.
Starting salary £36,636 – £46,049, with potential progression to £48,822.

Role Summary
The post holder will possess a broad understanding of how academia operates as a business and will be responsible for the management and optimisation of administration for all learning, teaching and quality administrative processes. They will work with the Education Support Office staff across the College, lead on defined education projects and contribute to strategic discussions, developing policy and procedure in schools to ensure consistency of practice and delivery of the College strategy.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with School Heads of Education and the wider College Education team to enhance and maintain the quality of education in line with university, college and school strategy.
- Work independently, consulting with senior staff and Heads of Operations, to develop and implement procedures to support change, using an open and inclusive leadership style.
- Manage education‑related administrative processes, ensuring robustness, flexibility, and effective operation at College and University levels.
- Conduct regular reviews of education processes and systems to ensure they remain efficient, integrated, fit for purpose, and in line with current quality assurance practices and sector guidance.
- Ensure the shape of support in each School is fit for purpose, reviewing and balancing responsibilities within teams to deliver an effective service.
- Provide specialist advice about university systems, policies and regulations, reviewing and implementing new systems, policies or regulations.
- Maintain an overview of curriculum development and the integrity of information held at School, College and University levels.
- Represent the College on committees and groups as directed by the Deputy Director of Operations (Education) and Head of Operations (Education).
- Work with professional services and academic colleagues to support delivery of change projects across the College, planning and ensuring delivery within set timescales.
- Analyse, interpret and provide professional expert advice on relevant university regulations, codes of practice and statutory obligations in teaching, learning and assessment.
- Lead projects or new initiatives relating to the university’s education agenda as required.
- Prepare and present reports, proposals and papers for stakeholders and senior meetings.
- Coach and encourage staff in a supportive environment, demonstrating willingness to listen, engage and support.
- Deliver training and other forms of support to staff within the College.
- Promote and encourage professional development opportunities for staff through the Professional Development Review process and the Birmingham Professional initiative.
- Nurture good working relationships to ensure effective communication of College initiatives and circulation of planning & policy development processes.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Head of Operations (Education), Deputy Director of Operations (Education) or Director of Operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- First degree (or equivalent qualification) or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Significant experience in higher‑education senior administration and/or management.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Detailed)
- Knowledgeable of the environmental, economic and political factors impacting higher education.
- Experienced in analysing complex information and contributing to action plans, strategic plans and quality reviews.
- Experienced in working within a customer‑centric organisation.
- Experienced in managing staff, delegating work and collaborating with others at a senior level to deliver change and/or projects.
- High level of competence in IT, proficient use of Microsoft Office, databases (preferably student record systems) and online learning resources.
- Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to cope with change in a fast‑moving, dynamic environment.
- Effective negotiating and positive influencing skills, with tact and diplomacy in dealing with confidential matters.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
- Exceptional attention to detail, judgement and decision‑making within role constraints.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and influence on others to deliver.
- Flexible, positive and creative approach to work with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to acquire knowledge of detailed university policies and procedures and apply them in practice.
