This role is for a Digital Development Coordinator within the Birmingham Business School, reporting directly to the Head of Careers. The successful candidate will create engaging, high-end digital content across a variety of platforms, operationalise digital technologies that support students and graduates, and drive the success of the Business School’s employability strategy.

Department Overview
Working as part of the wider Birmingham Business School team, you will deliver increased student engagement through interactive and highly engaging digital content, driving positive experiences and outcomes for students, graduates and alumni.
Role Summary
The post holder will operationalise digital technologies that support students and graduates, helping to deliver the Business School and the University of Birmingham’s employability and student-alumni success strategy. They will create engaging high-end digital content across a variety of platforms, play a key role in successful digital developments and keep abreast of the latest innovations and trends.
Main duties
- Website and intranet & Social Media: Managing continuous development and growth of BBS’s websites and intranet, covering all aspects from UX design to testing and maintenance. Coordinating design and uploading of diverse content (written, images, multimedia) and using data-driven insights for decision-making. Devising ways to simplify and enhance the user experience while upholding quality standards and branding guidelines. Providing advice and guidance to ensure consistency and best practice, and overseeing annual user testing. Creating content across all channels to increase engagement with the school and careers service.
- Development of learning pathways on CRM: Collaborating with BBS Careers, Careers Network and other stakeholders to optimise learning pathways on the CRM system. Coordinating and delivering staff training and managing technical enquiries from users. Generating reports on student activity as required. Participating in user groups and collaborating with other institutions on projects and best practices.
- Monitoring and evaluation: Contributing to creation of evaluation reports for colleagues across BBS Careers and the wider school. Evaluating engagement of websites and CRM pathways to ensure relevance and accessibility, using data to advise on changes.
- Projects and other duties: Promoting, training and advising on effective use of digital technologies to elevate service provision. Creating dynamic digital content utilising the student voice and ensuring web accessibility compliance. Contributing to milestone tracking and KPI monitoring. Proactively identifying and escalating issues and risks. Seeking opportunities for BBS Careers to support University objectives through internal and external networks. Continuously enhancing own skillset to meet evolving student and graduate needs. Championing equality and diversity, acting as a role model for inclusive culture. Contributing to the University’s sustainability agenda through resource-efficient practices. Undertaking any other duties commensurate with the grade.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience
- Degree level or equivalent qualification; relevant work experience will be considered.
- Demonstrable understanding of student and graduate experience and current employability issues.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills with evidence of managing stakeholder relationships.
- Experience using web-editing software, HTML, and improving website SEO.
- Strong UX design capability, with mobile-first content development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and custom systems.
- Knowledge of app development and publishing.
- Expertise in creating accessible digital content across platforms.
- Knowledge of the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
- Understanding of GDPR and data security best practices.
- Strong analytical skills to convey complex information for decision-making.
- Proactive, innovative approach to problem solving.
- Excellent stakeholder management and prioritisation skills.
- Proven organisational and project planning experience.
