Tutor in Psychology in Luton

The School of Sport, Psychology and Social Science is seeking to appoint a Psychology Tutor (1.0 FTE, fixed-term for two years) to join the Psychology and Criminology portfolio. The portfolio offers a diverse and growing range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a broad spectrum of psychological disciplines, including Counselling, Coaching, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, and Crime and Justice.

As part of a supportive and collaborative academic team, you will contribute to delivering high-quality teaching, supporting student success, and helping to further develop our innovative and professionally relevant curriculum. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, supporting and assessing students across a range of Psychology modules, using appropriate learning technologies and evidence‑informed teaching approaches to enhance student engagement, learning and achievement.

The role is primarily focused on teaching and learning support, with opportunities to contribute to curriculum development, module delivery, assessment, and the continued enhancement of the student experience. You will work flexibly across the portfolio, supporting colleagues in the delivery of high-quality programmes and contributing to the ongoing development of the subject area.

The postholder will collaborate with teaching teams on course development, projects, and working groups, and take responsibility for unit leadership. Key responsibilities include contributing to curriculum development, improving delivery methods, and exploring partnership opportunities within the subject area. The role also supports student recruitment and retention, ensures the quality of the academic experience, and helps design and update teaching and learning resources.

The position requires engagement with external stakeholders such as professional and regulatory bodies in Psychology, maintaining professional networks, and representing the university externally. The successful candidate will participate in staff development, professional development, and appraisal processes, while working within university policies.
